In-wall and in-ceiling speakers can be of extremely high quality and offer a very appealing way of getting sounds into the room apparently from nowhere.
In fact, you can even have speakers that 'drive' whole areas of plasterboard without any external physical evidence that they are even there. There can be quality trade-offs, of course. And some are not cheap. But we can talk you though the options.
Clever siting of small satellite speakers with, or sometimes without, a sub-woofer (the thing that creates the low bass energy) can give excellent and utterly discrete results. There are even in-ceiling speakers that match the sizes of standard small down-lighters.
