And we are not just talking about funky dimmers either. Modern digital light controllers allow for scene or mood lighting. It might sound like a frippery, but it really is worth investigating. It works by dividing all the lights in the room into groups or channels and varying the levels by channel, with even the speed of transition adjustable.
The scenes are pre-set combinations of light level which can be selected at will. A manual over-ride means that you can still raise and lower the light level with these scenes.
Blinds and curtains can be integrated into a light control system. And there is even the potential to programme the system to make the house look occupied whilst you are away. In fact the Rako system can even learn to replicate the randomness of normal life, repeating events learned over past weeks.
