There are video distribution systems that can utilise the ubiquitous CAT5 cabling but with free to air digital tuners being inside most new flat panel TVs, the easiest (and cheapest) route to distributing live television round the home is the good old aerial cable.
For Sky boxes, a little more thought is needed if full functionality, and access to the stereo or multi-channel sound is required.
With the advent of Apple TV, for example, it is fair to assume that on-line purchase of films and automatic access through a wired or wireless network is not too far away.
Needless to say, these new devices can be woven into a full 'smart house' system.
